ePrivacyseal offers preliminary certification services for IAB Europe OBA Framework. Companies which successfully pass the certification are awarded the trusted seal.

IAB Europe OBA Framework

The trusted seal confirms that companies are compliant with IAB Europe OBA Framework. In 2011 the European associations IAB and European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (=EDAA) adopted a self regulation for Online Behavioral Advertising, the “IAB Europe OBA Framework” (=OBA Framework).

The OBA Framework has been developed by European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) and IAB in close cooperation with EU authorities, i.e. DGINFSO, the leading legal authority for privacy in the European Union. ePrivacyseal has taken an active part in the development of the OBA Framework and participated in regular OBA Round Table discussions together with EU authorities. Beyond that, ePrivacyseal has been asked to present their certification approach to EU authorities on the OBA Round Table in June 2012.

In parallel, the EDAA has been formed by EASA and IAB. EDAA oversees the OBA Framework and defines processes to make sure that all OBA Framework participants are compliant.

ePrivacyseal has applied as one of the Independent Certification Providers by EDAA for all European countries.

The certification process is divided into three steps:

ICI – Initial Compliance Inspection
30CI – 30 day Compliance Inspection
CCI – Continuous Compliance Inspection

Certification Process

This process allows ePrivacyseal to reduce client’s risk to fail on compliance criteria. Therefore we identify possible certification issues in an early stage by monitoring compliance critical topics continuously and calculate key figures for certified companies. These figures enable us to identify possible compliance issues at an early state.

For all three steps ePrivacyseal uses its own support technology PIT® (Privacy Inspection Tool), which has been developed by Fraunhofer Institute SIT.

Awarded Seals

All companies, successfully passing the certification process, achieve the award, i.e. the EDAA seal for compliance with IAB Europe OBA Framework:

The certification of compliance proves to the public, that companies have successfully passed an independent certification, in which the auditor verified that the company fully complies with all requirements of the OBA Framework.
